The Lyceum Folk & Acoustic Club

Home of the Best Folk and Roots Music Around

Under the revised Welsh Government rules, we can still hold our Thursday meetings at the Crindau Constitutional Club, but with a few restrictions. These are rules imposed on the Crindau Club to allow the venue to meet Welsh Government rules and stay open: please respect them. The rules are as follows:

NO MORE THAN 30 PEOPLE are allowed in the room, with NO GROUPS BIGGER THAN 6 PEOPLE.

Please let Ruth know on 07966 754366 if you want to come, so that she can keep track of numbers.

If you turn up without booking, we might be forced to turn you away.

If we are going to be full, Ruth will put you on the waiting list.  Please let Ruth know if you can no longer make it after having booked a place, so she can let somebody on the waiting list come instead.

When moving around the room and the Club, YOU MUST WEAR A MASK, unless you are exempt.

We would prefer people coming to the club to be at least 'double-jabbed', preferably boosted and to have had a recent negative COVID-19 test, but we will not insist on either unless the Welsh government changes the rules.  We'll be providing hand sanitiser and washable mic covers, but it's up to you if you want to bring your own mic.

Our Zoom sessions will continue on a monthly basis on the Third Tuesday of the Month: the next one is on the 18th of January 2022.

Coming Soon

In January, we planned to kick off 2022 with another guest delayed from 2020: Rob Barratt, who first visited the club a few years ago. Sadly, the omicron variant had other ideas and we are forced to postpone his visit yet again. If the restrictions have eased again in February, our spotlight on the Calennig Show Band featuring our friends from Llantrisant Folk Club, Pat Smith and Ned Clamp will go ahead. Watch this space.

New date to be advised.

Rob Barratt

COVID-19 restrictions notwithstanding

Spotlight on Calennig Show Band

Through our Zoom sessions, we have made so many new friends that might not have visited the club otherwise.  As a result, we will continue hosting Zoom Sessions, but these will be on the third Tuesday of every month so that they dont interfere with our live sessions.  You can download the Zoom app to pretty much any device.  Click on the button below to download the App for your device from the Zoom website.

Once you have Zoom working on your device, Join us in the meeting room using the number below (no passcode required).  Please Make sure that your Zoom profile lets everyone know who you are and join us about 15 minutes before the Scheduled Start Time to indroduce yourself to Ruth if you wish to perform.  For everyone's benefit, please keep your microphone muted when other people are performing.

If you are joining us after the 8:30 p.m. Start Time, please ensure that you leave your microphone muted to avoid disturbing anyone who is performing at the time you join. We prefer to see everyone's face, but if you are feeling a bit self-conscious, by all means switch off your video feed and just listen.

Please remember that our Thursday Zoom sessions have stopped and there will be nobody online to let you in.

We welcome ALL acoustic instruments and musical styles and players from beginners to virtuosos, whether you wrote it yourself or borrowed it from someone else.  We are not averse to a bit of poetry or purple prose either.  Come along to play or just listen to others.  We use the Function Room upstairs and the atmosphere is terrific. Come along and find out for yourself!
