We have taken the painful decision to postpone presenting our Guest Artists in person indefinitely. With the reintroduction of Lockdown conditions in Wales it is unlikely that we will be able to meet again in person for some time: our venue is too intimate to be able to allow many people in the room under Social Distancing rules, even if we enforced the wearing of masks.
Until further notice, we will continue to hold our weekly Thursday evening meetings online from 8:30 p.m. via Zoom. You can download the Zoom app to pretty much any device. Click on the button below to download the App for your device from the Zoom website. Once you have Zoom working on your device, Join us in the meeting room below. Please Make sure that your Zoom Profile lets everyone know who you are and join us about 15 minutes before the Scheduled Start Time to indroduce yourself to Ruth if you wish to perform. For everyone's benefit, please keep your microphone muted when people are performing.
If you are joining us after the 8:30 p.m. Start Time, please ensure that you leave your microphone muted to avoid disturbing anyone who is performing at the time you join. We prefer to see everyone's face, but if you are feeling a bit self-conscious, by all means switch off your video feed and just listen.
When it is safe to do so, we will return to our friends at the
Malpas Road, Newport, South Wales, NP20 5PJ
(Entrance round the corner in Goodrich Crescent)
We are working with our planned guests to produce a virtual programme for 2021 just in case the lockdown persists for some time.
Our experiment presenting Brooks Williams, our guest for January 2021 via Zoom was very successful. We were able to combine a 45-minute set from Brooks with contributions from Club regulars and others who joined us for the first time on the night.
The Guest evening with Dan McKinnon will adopt the same format. A mix of Club regulars and new Zoom friends will beging the evening, followed by a 45-minute set from Dan. We will then invite other attendees to complete the evening.
We will use our normal Zoom meeting code and will not be charging for people to listen. We don't operate a tip jar system, but if you wish to make a donation on the evening, we will give you details in the chat session during the evening.
We welcome ALL acoustic instruments and musical styles and players from beginners to virtuosos, whether you wrote it yourself or borrowed it from someone else. We are not averse to a bit of poetry or purple prose either. Come along to play or just listen to others. We use the Function Room upstairs and the atmosphere is terrific. Come along and find out for yourself!
